The calendar year 1928 was a huge watershed year for Dodge Brothers. Four-cylinder cars were discontinued, and new Victory Six and Standard Six lines were created. By March of 1928, the company was producing four series of cars at the same time (128, Senior, Victory, and Standard). Then on July 31, 1928, Walter Chrysler bought Dodge Brothers in a stunning business transaction.
The company's name comes from the brothers John and Horace Dodge, who were among the original shareholders of FORD. In 1914, they started building cars bearing their own surname. DODGE cars were considered very reliable. The company was bought by CHRYSLER, but kept its own name.
This DODGE BROTHERS STANDARD SIX model 140 from 1928 is equipped with a six-cylinder, 3.600 cc, 58 HP low-valve engine and a three-speed manual gearbox with a reverse gear. The car is equipped with mechanical brakes operating on four wheels, it was a very innovative solution for those times, so a plate informing about it, was installed at the rear of the vehicle. The car was brought to Poland in 2004 from Canada. It went to one of the best Vintage Vehicle Renovation Studios in Poland. The comprehensive renovation took about 2.000 labour hours. After the completed renovation at the end of 2005, the vehicle is 100% original and technically efficient. The car has been repeatedly qualified for the NATIONAL TEAM at numerous prestigious shows in Europe: AMITEC Leipzig Fair, Troyes shows in France, Polish representation at LA GRANDE PARADE FESTIVAL AUTOMOBILE MULHOUSE. The car is currently taking an active part in rallies and shows in Poland and Europe.
